About the Project

oneGRID is developing the Empire State Connector, a 1,000 megawatt HVDC electric transmission line connecting Upstate New York to New York City. Efficient and reliable Upstate New York energy will be collected at a converter station built near Utica.

The energy will then be transported via transmission cables that use safe and proven technology. These cables will be located in existing waterways to minimize the Project’s environmental impact and eliminate any visual impact. The southern terminus will be located in New York City. The project will facilitate upstate job creation through renewable energy and energy system development.
